Accessibility Statement
Aware of the importance of facilitating access to the information provided on its institutional website to all groups, covering a wide range of functions, the Senate accepts its commitment to upholding the greatest possible level of accessibility.
This accessibility statement applies to the institutional website www.senado.es in application of Royal Decree 1112/2018, of 7 September, on the accessibility of public sector websites and mobile device applications , which transposes Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
ILUNION Certification of ICT Accessibility
In March 2019, the website obtained ILUNION accessibility certification, in accordance with Standard UNE 139803:2012, Accessibility requirements for Web content. This certification is renewed every six months. It provides accreditation of compliance with nivel AA (double-A) level in the Accessibility Guidelines, recommended by the WAI 2.0 working group of the W3C
Compliance Status
The Senate website complies with Royal Decree 1112/2018, of 7 September , although the following aspects may not always be in compliance due to their particular characteristics:
- Live multimedia content.
- Pre-recorded multimedia content of a temporary basis, published before the Royal Decree came into effect.
- Senate historical archive content
- Online map services
- Office files published before Royal Decree 1112/2018 came into effect.
- Files not generated by the Senate Secretariat-General, included as complementary information in various areas of the website.

Compatibility with standards and visual design
All parts of this website comply with the Accessibility Guidelines or General Principles of Accessible Design established by the WAI Working Group belonging to the W3C.
The visual design was carried out to W3C recommendations, on Level 3 Cascading Style Sheets, (Nivel 3) (CSS3). If the browser or the browser device does not support style sheets, the web content is still entirely readable thanks to its structural mark-up.
Size of text
The accessible design of this website enables users to be able to choose the size of text that suits them. This may be undertaken in a number of ways depending on the browser being used; otherwise the Ctrl+ and ctrl- controls may be used directly. This website has been designed using an adaptable web design that enables users to adjust content to the size of the device, improving the user experience.
